Winston Choi, Piano

Sculpted Reminiscences is a five-piece set for solo piano in honor of the Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War (April 12, 1861 – April 9, 1865) focusing on themes, events, and emotions that have scarcely changed over the last 150 years. The title references how these themes, events and emotions have been formed, or sculpted, psychologically into our daily consciousness as well as how they are physically memorialized by the numerous Civil War monuments interspersed on Americas’ landscape. Sculpted Reminiscences is dedicated to my colleague Winston Choi who premiered all five pieces (one at a time) between 2011 and 2015.
